Farewell to Little Caesar
January 18th 2005

NSW Democrat MLC, Dr Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, has wished the Hon. Michael Egan all the best for his retirement after the Treasurer announced his intention retire from the Carr Government Front Bench today.

“Even though I have been a strong and vocal critic of Michael Egan as Treasurer, he’s quite a pleasant bloke outside of Parliament.”

“Michael’s ramblings during Question Time was always entertaining, although rarely informative, and I hope the answer to my question about taxpayer value from the sale of Flemington Markets is in the mail!”

While the Treasurer said he will resign from his Ministerial Portfolios in the near future, Dr Chesterfield-Evans hopes Mr Egan will spend some time on the backbench.

“The government backbenchers share the same floor as the Independent and Minor Party members in the Legislative Council.”

“As a Medical Doctor, I am looking forward to going around to his office everyday and helping him quit his smoking habit, while he is still in reasonable health.”.
