Scully Resignation A Win For Accountability

October 25th 2006

NSW Democrat MLC, Dr Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, believes that the resignation of Carl Scully as the Minister for Police is proof that the Premier and the factional power brokers in the A.L.P. now view Mr. Scully as a political liability leading up to the March State Election.

“Sadly, Mr Scully’s track record has been very poor. Every thing he touched seemed to go pear-shaped. I even nicknamed him the “Minister for Train Crashes” when he was Minister for Transport. But Mr. Scully’s handling over the release of the Cronulla Riot Police Report was the last straw. ” Dr Chesterfield-Evans said.

“Although he appeared ready to tough it out and not acknowledge that he deliberately mislead parliament, it’s obvious he’s been pushed. It’s a small win for democracy and accountably in N.S.W.” Dr Chesterfield-Evans concluded.
