{"id":916,"date":"2021-03-14T07:00:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-14T07:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chesterfieldevans.com\/?p=916"},"modified":"2021-03-14T07:02:30","modified_gmt":"2021-03-14T07:02:30","slug":"ex-solicitor-general-calls-for-inquiry-into-porters-rape-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chesterfieldevans.com\/?p=916","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Solicitor-General Calls for Inquiry into Porter\u2019s Rape Allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">14 March 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Solicitor-General, Justin Gleeson has made the case as to why there needs to be an investigation into Katherine Thornton\u2019s rape allegation against Attorney-General, Christian Porter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mechanism for this would be that Morrison should ask the Solicitor-General for advice as to the situation.&nbsp; This Morrison has so far declined to do.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interestingly, Justin Gleeson was highly respected Solicitor-General who resigned in 2016 after a very public argument with the then Attorney-General George Brandis, when Brandis wanted all referrals to the Solicitor-General to go through his office.&nbsp; Gleeson felt that this was restricting his freedom to give advice and effectively politicising his office.&nbsp; Prior to Brandis\u2019 restriction he had made a statement about the legality of refugee legislation.
